The Princess Never Dies, Disney Won’t Trim Carrie Fisher’s Role in “The Last Jedi’

Princess Leia

In December 27, 2016, about two weeks after Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits the theater. All the fans are really exciting about it. But, I think Star Wars fans are in the dilemma in that time. One of the important character from the original films passed away.  I know should be happy because Gareth Edwards is successful with the spin off. But in the other had, Carrie Fisher, The Princess Leia, left us forever.

In late December, that Carrie Fisher had completed her role in the Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Yeah. It features Princess Leia in the eighth installment of series.

But what about the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode IX? Will the Princess make the appearance?

The official Star Wars site assured fans that “Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally re-create Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.”

However, it still does not answer the most important point. Would Disney modify Star Wars: The Last Jedi somehow to bring Leia Organa’s story to a conclusion in the film? Or was that the plan all along?

Disney CEO Robert Iger now says: “We’ve had to deal with tragedy this past year because Carrie Fisher passed away tragically in December, and she appears throughout [Episode] VIII. What I can say about that is she is in VIII and we’re not changing VIII to deal with her passing. So her performance, which we’re really pleased with, remains as it was in VIII.”

Back in January 2017, shortly before production began on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the writer-director Rian Johnson also wrote the treatment for the ninth installment. It presumably outlined the major story points. Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) and his writing partner Derek Connolly are currently working with actually writing the screenplay, but the studio expected the production will begin late this year or early next year.

So, let me imagine something. If the character survives into the ninth installment, though, could another actress conceivably play the role? Or might Leia exit the picture very early in the plot, possibly sooner than originally planned?

Star Wars fans, including me, don’t expect Lucasfilm to reveal any story points and plot about the ninth installment. I even didn’t expect any hints about them. I will wait with patience until everyone has seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The Last Jedi itself is scheduled for release on December 15. That gives Trevorrow and Connolly plenty of time to work out any story points that still need to be adjusted with regard to Leia Organa.
