Keanu Reeves was not because of The Matrix. Of course yes, it is true but his success is also coming from other films. For me, one film comes up in my mind when thinking about Keanu Reeves is John Wick. Just in case you never watch it, the film is about a retired hitman, come back to his old days. His reason will shock you, he demanded an avenge for the death of his dog! Underline it, he killed for HIS DOG! Stop talking about the past, it is the time for the sequel: John Wick Chapter 2. Will he kill again for another pet? Let say, a cat maybe? Here is a few spoiler for you.

John Wick Chapter 2 continues after 4 days after the original John Wick. He tracked down his stolen 1969 Boss 429 Mustang and came up at the chop shop of Abram Tarasov. He successfully found the car but it is broke. So, He called a friend, Aurelio, to repair it. Not so long from that, another old friend, Italian crime lord Santino D’Antonio. He suddenly stops by and recalls his favor to John. Santino D’Antonio is the reason why someone like John can retire, marry a beautiful woman and live a normal life. John Wick owes him and now it is the time for him to pay it back. Santino D’Antonio shows “blood oath” medallion to John. It is a “Marker” of an unbreakable promise between Santino and John years ago. John politely refuse that but it just makes Santino destroy John’s house with a grenade launcher.

However, his rejection means he already breaks the two rules of the underworld: no killing in Continental Hotel owned by Winston and Markers must be honored. To avoid more trouble, John accepts Santino’s Marker and start haunting his target, Gianna D’Antonio, sister of Santino. John infiltrates Gianna’s celebratory party in Rome. Instead of pulling his trigger to her, Gianna commits suicide. Gianna’s bodyguard, Cassian goes after John into the reception area of the Rome Continental. Because Rules should be honored, their fight is halted but the trouble for John did not stop there. Somehow, Santino demands John to die so he opens $7 million contracts for him. Many people start hunting him down but John goes after the source of his trouble, Santino D’Antonio. John haunting him and kills all D’Antonio’s men except Ares, Santino’s personal bodyguard. It makes Santino D’Antonio is able to escape to the Continental. Santino believes John will honor the Rules and not killing him there. Winston warns John, but he objects that and shoots D’Antonio right in the head. He did not respect the rule John loses access and privileges to underworld resources. But, since this is John Wick, he still killing people who come after him.

Conclusion

There is a clear reason why people love John Wick and John Wick Chapter 2 in particular. John Wick is badass. He did not ever killing again if people did not ask him to do so. There are many shootings, but most of them are done in silent. I call it Classy Killing. The film is full of violent actions but still entertaining. I really like the tunnel scenes. He kills like twenty people alone, with a style. John Wick told me that being a bad guy, a hitman, in this case, is not always bad. Sometimes, it just the only thing we can do to have what we deserve. Moreover, I really can’t wait for the Chapter 3!
