Warkop DKI is a legend in Indonesia film Industry. The group had released 34 films from 1979 to 1994. The title was so catchy and the overall film is so funny. The comedic scenes were special and no more actors could replicate it. Moreover, they sometimes inserted some critics to the government. Those are the solid reason why every film featured Warkop DKI can grab many audiences. Unfortunately, only Indro still exists in Indonesia Entertainment Industry. He is now judges of Stand Up Comedy Indonesia with the mission to empower young comedians throughout the country. More than that, he is also the producer of the most successful film in Indonesian history, Warkop DKI Reborn: Jangkrik Boss. So, how about the story? Just check it out!
The story is about three best friends, Dono, Kasino and Indro. They work as CHIPS officers. CHIPS (Cara Hebat Ikut Ikutan orang Sosial) basically had a job to bring order and security among the society. However, they are always being ridiculous. They did not solve people’s problem. Instead, they often make the problems worse. Their attitude and behavior irritated their Boss. But since he still has faith in them, he asked Dono, Kasino and Indro to stop Begal (gangster) in Jabodetabek. To make sure they did not make any mistake, Boss asked CHIPS officer from French, Sophie. Because of that, Dono, Kasino, Indro and Sophie had to drive around to search the Begal. They split up and found a thief. They go after him but they screwed up, again.
That mess brought them to court. The judges sentenced them by 8 billion fine. If not, they have to go behind the bars for 10 months. Dono, Kasino and Indro got no money to pay. So, they plan to borrow from Dono’s uncle but he trick them with counterfeit money. In the Fortunately, they got lucky when helping a guy that is just hit by a car. The guy is dying but he gave them a map. He said that the map can lead them to get the treasure. The map told them to go to Malaysia but they lost the map. They split up to search the lady with red dress in the place they never know. THE END.
Even though it is not perfect, Warkop DKI Reborn is amazingly replicate the comedic scenes from the original Warkop films. I personally like Dono and Kasino. Abimana Aryasatya and Vino G. Bastian can make Dono and Kasino come back to live. The jokes are classic and I am pretty sure when you watch this, you will feel the same feeling when watching the original Warkop. Since it is a comedy, I can forgive some bad special effects in it. However, I question some the logic within the plot. For example, remember the airport scene? So, why Kasino is just singing rather than talk the directly to Dono and Indro? Yeah, only the scriptwriter and director know the answer.
