If you ever learn about Psychology or Human Resources, I am pretty sure you know about Maslow’s hierarchy. Just in case you don’t know it at all, it is a well-known theory about human’s natural motivation. Initially proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943, this theory now is very popular framework in sociology research, management training and secondary and higher psychology instruction.
Motivation is something push us to do something. In some cases, it pushes us to do something we don’t want to do. In other words, if we can “motivate” someone with the right “motivation”, he or she will do everything we ask without any arguments. Seems cool, right? Okay, but the next big question is how we can figure out the right motivation? Again, Maslow’s hierarchy has the answer.
Maslow used the terms “physiological”, “safety”, “belongingness” and “love”, “esteem”, “self-actualization”, and “self-transcendence” to help people around the world to describe the pattern that human motivations generally move through. Once we can fulfill the current layer, we can move up to another one. Physiological layer is in the bottom and it is the base of all motivation we need for the very first time.
What are Physiological layer in Maslow’s hierarchy? It simply the very basic requirements for human survival. If we cannot get them enough, our life will ultimately failed. So, to be 100% human, we need to have foods (and water), clothing and shelter. Just that? No, because Trolls tells me another basic need to be human, happiness.
Being happy is not as simple as saying it. Happiness is not just a state of mind. It is inside us but we need right and planned actions to let it out. If you are Trolls like Branch and Poppy, the way is singing, dancing and hugging. But, since we are a normal human, we need to little bit modify the “happy Trolls formula.”
Make Good Friends
Trolls are friendly in nature. They spend their time with others. They never let anyone down. Trolls do not do networking because they have to. Princess Poppy do not make friends with Branch because of the huge payoff. She does it just because she wants it the most. And you can see, Trolls are happy ever after.
