Before watch Rogue One, I am not a Star Wars fans. I never watch the previous films except the Force Awakens. I never know the story so I never expect anything good when watching it. But, Rogue One beyond my expectation. It makes me a Star Wars fans just after I go out from theater! No light saber no cry. No Jedi and No Luke Skywalker appearances. Also, there is a little scene for light saber so I can focus on the wars. For me, this how all Star Wars movies look like. Sorry:)
Like The Force Awakens, Star Wars Story: Roguen One follows a story of a tough and brave woman. She is the daughter of Imperial superweapon engineer, Jyn Erso. 15 years ago, Erson Krennic comes to Lah’mu to force Galen Erson to continue his work on Death Star. He refuses that because it is a machine that destroy the entire planet with a single blast. This refusal make Krennic to take the lead by shooting Lyra, Galen’s wife. Jyn is safe in the banker before an extremist Saw Gerrera save her. In the present day, an imperial pilot Bodhi Rook smuggle Galen’s message to Saw Gerrera. The Rebellion knows that and tries to use Jyn to get closed to Saw. Jyn accepts that because it is the only chance for her to track her father. However, the Rebel Senate order Captain Cassian Andor to kill Galen whenever he sees him. Jyn, Cassian and android K2SO start traveling to Gerrera’s place, Jedha.
Surprisingly, Kyber crystals to power Death Star are from them. So, the fight between Imperial and Alliance troopers are unavoidable. Jyn and Cassian are trapped in the middle of the fight until blind warrior Chirrut Îmwe and mercenary Baze Malbus help them. Together, they try to make a contact with Saw Gerrera. Gerrera recognizes Jyn and show her father’s holographic message. He told Jyn that there is a serious flaw in the super-weapon. Jyn needs to steal the blueprint and give it to the Rebellions. To do that, Jyn Cassian, K2SO, Chirrut Îmwe and Baze Malbus have to go to Planet Scarif. They need a backup but Rebellion lost their hope. Luckily, there are ten other bravest men join their guerilla. With limited resources but unlimited hope, Jyn has to fulfill her father’s plan and save the entire galaxy.
Like what I said in the intro, Rogue One makes me love Star Wars. The epic battle, the casts, the story is incredibly worth-to-watch. My favorite part is when Jyn and her friends commit suicide by infiltrating Planet Scarif. If I am Jyn, I will think twice to do that, seriously. Darth Vader looks badass while Jyn is tough and brave woman. This film is easy to understand even when you did not watch Star Wars before. Rotten Tomatoes give it 84%. Guardian give it 4 out of 5. For me, Rogue One is the Star Wars for the Millennials, nothing less.
