Different with the worldwide success Harry Potter, Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them is not focusing on the adventure of wizard team-up and fight dark magic. The concern is about how magical beast live with human side by side. This “extension” introduce another side of the wizarding universe to us. So, even you don’t like Harry Potter, I am sure you might enjoy watching Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them, like me.
This film followed Newt Scamander, Magi-zoologist that stop-over in New York for a reason. He brings a suitcase with full of magical creatures. Then, a non wizard person somehow misplaced his case and release some dangerous magical creatures into the city and threatening magical and non-magical relations in the United States. It worsen the situation since a fanatical extremist group, the New Salem Philanthropic Society, advocating for a “Second Salem” and the eradication of wizard world.
As I said before, one interesting point of this film are the fantastic creatures in the case. They seem like having different characteristic and sometimes mixing two or more normal animal in No-Maj world. You can see some of them in the film but if you are difficult to remember them, here is the list that can help you
1. The Niffler
I think you must remember it because it was the first creature that escape from case and create a mess in the City Hall. A Niffler is like an adorable cross between a mole and a duck-billed platypus. It natively lives in Britain in burrows as deep as twenty feet below ground. It can be a good pet if it can control itself toward a shiny and sparkling objects. Also, it has a pouch on their bellies which holds far more than at first seems possible. So, it is not strange when Niffler takes all jewels, coins, or anything else that tickles their fancy put all in its pouch.
2. Swooping Evil
I think this is one of the coolest creatures Newt has. The Swooping Evil is a blue-and-green winged magical creature. At the first sight, Swooping Evil looks like a cross between a reptile and an butterfly, if there is a butterfly as big as it is. When it is not flying with its spiked wings, the Swooping Evil shrinks into a small green spiny cocoon. Even though it is cool, Newt always warn us to be very careful with this since it stuck out human brains. However, the venom it secretes can be used to erase bad memories.
When the first time I see it, I think Bowtruckle is a cuter version of Groot in Guardian of Galaxy. Bowtruckles are actually made out tree stems, with their own little branches. They are extremely difficult to spot in its natural habitat. Originally, they can be found in western England, southern Germany, and certain Scandinavian forests. They are a tree guardian a peaceful creatures unless there is something threaten their home trees.
