IMDb gives 8.9 out of 10. I never know any other anime film that rate this high since Ghibli’s made it in 1990s. What I can say, Kimi No Nawa is just amazing. Once again, Makoto Sinkai impressed me with his beautiful and compelling anime movie. Taki and Mitsuha told us how love can eternally connect two people in mysterious way. No one ever imagine that Mitsuha lived three years before Taki’s timeline but again, love makes them meet at the end. Also, I never forget the “Kataware-doki”, a time when a human can communicate with non-human being. This scene is too sweet to be easily forgotten.
The success continues with the box office revenue it gets. So far, Kimi No Nawa reached box-office revenue of 10 billion yen or about 158.1 million USD worldwide. It also reveals the shocking fact, it attracted a total of 950,000 visitors, generating a box-office revenue of 1.2 billion yen in just three days! Until now, the film is still in theater after 7 weeks after its release date.
Beside the story, visual or the OST, Kimi No Nawa’s success is also because it is full of stunning dialog (or monolog). It gives the film a sense of humor as well as romantic and sweet elements. Here are some quotes from kimi no nawa that can crush your feeling.
- “Once in a while when I wake up, I find myself crying. The dream I must’ve had I can never recall. But… the sensation that I’ve lost something, lingers for a long time after I wake up.”
“I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.”
“I wanted to tell you that… Wherever you may end up in this world, I will be searching for you.”
“I feel like I’m always searching for someone, or something.”
I have to admit, those 4 lines is so touching. It is like when you miss something you do not before. Poor Taki. Poor Mitsuha. But, lucky them. They feel attached each other before they met.
